About Us
Victim Services of Nipissing District is one of more than 45 Victim Services Ontario agencies located throughout the province. Victim Services Ontario agencies are unique in that they respond to those impacted by all forms of crime and victimization, from non-violent fraud, to violent crimes such as sexual assault, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, homicide and mass violence incidents. Victim Services Ontario may also respond to community members impacted in tragic circumstances such as fatal motor vehicle accidents and suicide.
Upon receiving a request from police, emergency services, community or self-referral, Victim Services Ontario staff assess client needs and offer immediate interventions, such as on scene support, remote support and emotional or practical assistance.
Other services offered by Victim Services Ontario staff include the provision of information, psychosocial education, referrals and linkages to relevant community services and individualized safety planning.
Operations
Victim Services of Nipissing District operates under the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and has been serving the Nipissing District since 1997. The area of service for this district covers 17000 square kilometers:
- South –Trout Creek
- North – Temagami
- East – Deux Rivieres
- West – Warren
Victim Services of Nipissing District is a member of the Ontario Network of Victim Service Providers.
